People or things that I see in my daily life trigger ideas for my work, whilst light, surface and colour are the main elements that interest me when developing those ideas. When painting, initially I create a surface on which to paint so that the surface interest is there before a mark is made. Sometimes this surface is unrelated to the composition, whilst at other times it is an integral part. I like to produce series of work so that I can develop variations of emphasis.
