An art school without a building and making space in time

Prospectus is a pilot project to create an alternative form of art school for the dispersed art community of Somerset.

Initiated by artist Anna Best and SAW’s Programme Associate Zoe Li, Prospectus formed a cohort of artists to spend time and work together, exploring models of learning for themselves and the wider artistic community.

Joined by artists Isobel AdderleyJon England, Jenny GrahamFiona HingstonSue Palmer and Natalie Parsley the group experimented and collaborated together; utilising existing art school facilities, sharing thoughts and resources online and creating a learning programme for audiences in Somerset this autumn.

Residency at Huish Episcopi Academy
April 2017

This April, the group spent five days at Huish Episcopi Academy’s sixth-form art complex experimenting ways of learning. They created a programme of activities, including practical sessions designed and delivered by each of the participating artists, and presentations and workshops from invited guests: art therapist Mary Caddick, artist and researcher Rona Lee and artist Lisa Cheung.

You can find the reflections from the participating artists on Our Notes section, capturing their experience and thoughts about the project.
