Workshop: Deconstructed Exmoor Landscapes
Working from photographed imagery of the beautiful landscapes of Exmoor. This session explores the possibilities of deconstructing and then rebuilding the imagery to take forward to paint, print or stitch. Includes collaged papers, line and paint to understand the process of building up an image which can then be interpreted in another format. Workshop: Draw, Stitch & Paint. Workshop combines a mixture of contemporary textile skills to create the Hare image inspired by our beautiful Exmoor Country side.You will learn how to transfer an image on to fabric, to then work into with applique of traditional tweeds and country themed prints.You will use free hand embroidery to interpret drawn lines and then use some hand painted finishing touches. This class is suitable for the intermediate to the advanced.Thursday 20th September

Workshop: The Torn Edge Explore ‘mixed media textiles’ to create a landscape picture inspired from a view of Tabor Hill on Exmoor. Session includes collaged papers, line and paint to understand the process of building up an image which is then interpreted into stitched textiles.

Workshop: Freda & Co (female icons in stitch) From recognised female icons which are captured in on-trend applique and stitched 2D textile outcome. (size A4) Build a portrait through block applique methods and then develop a free motion embroidery technique to outline your image. Hand tint with fabric paints before using hand stitched embellishments and embroidery to finally finish your outcome. This class is suitable for the beginner who would like to explore some free motion embroidery, or the intermediate with some experience who would like to learn a few more processes and develop already learnt skills. Workshop: Print & Stitch. This class is suitable for the beginner to the intermediate. You will be working with Colour, Textiles and PRINT. The intention of this class is to explore lino cutting, inspired from a selection of chosen images which are then transferred onto 6’’ x 6’’ Lino or soft cut vinyl. You will then create a simple 3 colour block print using an exciting 3 stage process called ‘reduction printing’ that you will then create prints on fabric and on a Calico Tote bag that you will later embellish in the afternoon with appliqué and stitch. Workshop: The House that Jack Built. Create a dyed and painted canvas to create a simplistic / naïve styled village scene. Composition and proportion are discussed, as you applique your village onto the landscape. The image is finished with simple hand and machine stitches.
