I draw the inspiration for my work directly from the landscape I paint. It is a direct response to the feelings I experience, together with my observations on the relationship between land and sea and sky. Brought up on the Isle of Arran in Scotland, I have studied weather for as long as I can remember and am always looking to develop my work. Working in ink on a wet surface to allow ambiguity and flow and also in oils where I enjoy the thicker quality of the paint and the possibilities that it brings.
I will be showing my work at Venue 3, Marcombe in Cross, just along the A38 from J22 of the M5.
I am an experienced tutor both for adults and children (the latter in a wide range of media – currently art tutor at the Ilminster Arts Centre), I visit art groups and run art sessions too. More details of forthcoming courses will be available at the venue during SAW.
