My inspiration comes from the natural environment: the emphasis is on pattern, texture and contrast of form & shape.
I combine my enjoyment of drawing with the use of clay by designing and making engraved Ceramic Plaques, Ceramic Sculpture, Etchings, Aquatints & Transfer printed China.
I have spent most of my teaching career as a lecturer in ceramics, in further, secondary & adult education & training and now work for Inaura the Inclusion Charity for disadvantaged children.
I have always tried to foster an appreciation of the arts, and belong to two local art groups who are working with other organisations to try to raise the profile of the arts in our local community.
Lately I have been involved in a project working together with musicians, dancers and artists to stimulate a spontaneous reaction to what is happening as an aid in developing new avenues of work
Professionally trained at Kingston upon Thames College of Art where I studied sculpture, Ceramics & etching, achieving a first class honours. Then at Goldsmiths College of Art, gaining a teaching qualification, and later was invited to study ceramics at the Royal College of Art in London.
