Anna Morris
Anna’s work explores the transformative effect of light, investigating mark-making and referencing landscape through drawing, painting and collage. Her works evoke the experience of visual phenomena, of atmospheric light and luminosity on land and sea. Her work is rarely specific to a particular place but informed by memory and she is interested in the references and associations the viewer brings to her work.
Her process is a combination of painting and collage, producing mostly small scale works on card and plywood. The collaged fragments she uses are sometimes many years old and she uses a wide range of experimental means to produce these often incorporating fragments of prints – monotype, dry point, collagraph and more recently screenprints. She collates and sifts, selecting and combining, layering and reworking until the composition settles into its final form.
