Artist: Andrea Oke

We are pleased to announce a new and final Somerset Art Works commission as part of 'A Landscape of Objects' funded by Arts Council England. Somerset visual artist Andrea Oke will take up a residency at the National Centre for Folk Art at Halsway Manor in West Somerset. Through a combination of traditional craft and digital media Andrea will reanimate Halsway Manor's landscape by exploring some of the forgotten people and the stories that shaped the bedrock of this place.

The Shadowland project is an artist residency to create work which responds to the unique collections and rich heritage of Halsway Manor.

Commissioned artist Andrea Oke combines traditional craft with modern technology to reimagine social history and create new dialogues. During the Shadowland project she will unlock the unique collection held within Halsway’s library to uncover a rich history of folklore, combined with local folk history and use this to project Halsway into its own extraordinary landscape.

Shadowland is part of A Landscape of Objects, commissioned by Somerset Art Works for Halsway Manor, funded by Arts Council England.  The education strand is supported by InspirED.
