Are you interested in the arts and your environment?

Are you 16-25 and want to help shape the arts in Somerset?

If so, Somerset Art Works is looking for a Young Trustee to join its Board!

What is Somerset Art Works?

In 1994 a group of Somerset artists started a festival that they called Somerset Art Weeks, which gave the chance to connect with other artists across the county and promote their work directly to the public. It was such a success that there has been a regular Somerset Art Weeks festival every other year since.

In 2000 Somerset Art Weeks (SAW Ltd) was set up as an artist-led organisation. Since 2008 SAW members have held an annual festival and every year growing the festival into an important event across Somerset. So successful has SAW been that in 2016 Somerset Art Works became a registered charity which aims…

…‘To advance education for the public benefit in Somerset in the fields of visual arts including collaborations with other art forms’

What does Somerset Art Works do?

As well as running the annual festival that takes place in autumn, SAW works with a range of other arts and non-arts organisations to create an atmosphere of adventure and experimentation that inspires artists to make and present work and for people across Somerset to enjoy it.

SAW supports artists to develop their creative work and business skills and help young people of all backgrounds in Somerset to be creative. SAW also works with communities across the county to help them be creative themselves.

What will be the role of a Young Trustee?

SAW aims to ensure that young people are at the heart of its learning and development programmes. Trustees inform decisions about the future of Somerset Art Works and as a Young Trustee the organisation want to share your perspective, energy and fresh ideas to help drive the organisation forward.

Trustees uphold and represent the purpose, vision, values and mission of an organisation and will come from a range of backgrounds and bring a variety of knowledge and experience.
