'Reveal' is a working partnership between Somerset Art Works and Somerset Film. 'Reveal' aims to raise the profile of visual arts and media across the county by active collaboration.
Somerset Art Works and Somerset Film are working together with the aim of developing a three year initiative to develop artists film in the region.
We invited Josephine Lanyon to work with us as a response to our interest in her research Moving Images: Artists film productions that engage people and place.
Josephine Lanyon has twenty years experience of working in the arts sector as a curator in galleries, as a director of a film commissioning agency and now as a freelancer.
The organisers seek to provide an alternative working model in the county’s shifting cultural infrastructure. The plan recognises that artists film is a flexible and collaborative medium that lends itself to engaging audiences and the involvement of lay people in the production of new art works that can provoke a new meaning of place. The key ideas driver
behind the project is the recognition that Somerset is a fascinating county full of interested people and unknown places that have the potential to infuse an incredible conversation.
The key aims are to:
• Inspire and inform naturally inquisitive, rurally based audiences
• Work creatively with artists and collectives living and working in the county
• Produce a new film work exploring people and place with the artist Ben Rivers
• Take a little slice of Somerset to a lot of people
