Joanna Briar
Joanna is a printmaker using lino and wood to create small editions of her work on paper and linen. Joanna lives and works in Glastonbury, Somerset dividing her time between working in heritage and printmaking. Joanna’s latest work incorporates Mokuhanga – Japanese wood block printing.
In 2022, Joanna collaborated with Jill Davies and together they created the #MySpaceMySanctuary installation for SAW Festival 2022 at Ace Arts in Somerton with a follow-up exhibition at Studio 10, East Quay, Watchet. The project was supported by a SAW Micro-Commission and included over 400 postcards made by members of the community.
In May 2023, Joanna will be developing her collaborative project with Jill Davies at Bridgwater Arts Centre. The exhibition will feature drawing, printmaking, mixed media and textiles exploring the connections between nature, well-being and the local landscape. Joanna is a member of the Somerset Craft Guild and her work is on display at the Guild Gallery in Wells.
