Carol Mackenzie
Carol is a contemporary artist who specialises in the rich language of pictorial symbolism; recurring themes include botanical, animal and bird subjects, which lend themselves sympathetically to diverse architectural settings, both ancient and modern.
Carol’s practice revolves around the manipulation of paint and collage; she subtly combines distressed and worn textures to encapsulate a timeless ambience which is a pleasure to live with.
Japanese Art has been a perennial influence and admirers of Carol’s work will be familiar with the iconic ‘Eden Kimono-Spring and Autumn’ series, beautiful, life-size, statuesque works, produced entirely from recycled fabric and paper which have been exhibited at selected galleries throughout the UK.
Large scale richly embellished and atmospheric paintings and miniatures have recently been exhibited at The Eden Project, Salisbury Arts Centre, Muchelney Abbey, Montacute House, Atkinson Gallery, Millfield and The Kennel Club Art Gallery, London.
A participant member of the South West Textile Group’s (www.southwesttextilegroup.org.uk) inaugural exhibition, Carol was also co-curator of ‘The Big Time’, which toured nationally to universal acclaim.
Commissions are occasionally undertaken by special arrangement.
